This is a list of applications you'll find very useful when running QBasic games (besides the very compilers), if you still have an access to a Windows XP or older environment, otherwise I recommend DOSBox.
|
QuickBASIC 4.5 (870 KB)
| The most popular QuickBASIC compiler which can run all the uncompiled games from the directory and compile most of them.
|
QBasic 1.1 (287 KB)
| A version of QBasic which used to be distributed with MS-DOS 6.22. It can't compile source codes as well as not run all of them.
|
CPU Grabber (4 KB)
| A quite handy CPU slowdown utility. A Windows application. Useful for slowing down games that run too fast on today PCs.
|
VDMSound 2.1.0 (1796 KB)
| Excellent tool that emulates DOS environment (both sound and memory) in Windows. A must have for anyone running DOS applications.
|
VDMSound Patch (48 KB)
| Videoport driver patch for VESA in NTVDM.
|
boot98sc.exe (892 KB)
| This program creates an MS-DOS boot disk on a floppy (all you need is to insert a blank floppy disk in your floppy disk drive).
|
emsmagic10.zip (51 KB)
| EMS Magic is an expanded memory (EMS) emulator that installs as a removable
TSR and runs under DOS and Windows 9x/NTx (in NTVDM). It provides a complete
implementation of the Lotus-Intel-Microsoft (LIM) 4.0 EMS specification,
including a contiguous 64K page frame. If you have problems with allocating EMS memory on your PC download this utility and run it before the QBasic game with a single batch file. It works best with VDMSound.
